Hi Guys. You guys have some amazing pictures on this site. Would it be cool if I asked for some route advice, as I notice you guys have ridden in the Otztal a lot.
Do you know what the trail is like from Vent - Hochjoch Hospiz - Schoen Aussicht Hutte - Vernaght Stauersee, then back over past the Similaunhutte.
I am nowhere near as skilled as you guys, so hopefully it is not no 'Gnarly'

Hi David,
that's a really nice tour I think. But what about riding it the other way round?
Riding from Niederjoch to Vent you get on a road at 2.500 m already. And the trail from Hochjochhospitz to Vent offers more trail amount. It's just that it's not a pure descent. You have some uphill meters in this directions. But it's not much and I guess there are less hikers in this valley. At least we had not met anybody in the late afternoon.
Taking the unmarked trail on the other side of the Rofenache might be another option.
I don't know the descent from Schöne-Aussicht-Hütte. However, it does not seem to be as steep as the Niederjoch trail, which is known to be a challenge for bikers with average skill level and might be more attractive for you. Here's a link to some fotos taken 6 years ago:

So the opposite direction might be more interesting for the downhill and a little bit easier for your uphill. Though you might have to push your bike to the Schöne Aussicht as well.

Hi Dave,
im Mai mächte ich endlich den 601 und Dalco 112 + 111 fahren!
Das Video mit der Helmkamera vom 601 war sehr aufschlußreich für mich-Thanks.
Habt ihr vielleicht auch vom Dalco 112 oder 111 ein kurzen Film im Netz?
bzw. was sind die Hauptunterschiede zwischen 111 und 112?

Du hast Glück, denn die Biker-Hiker haben erst letztens ein Video mit 111er und 112er rausgebracht. ;-)

Ein paar Passagen vom 112er sieht man ab 24:06 min, längere Abschnitte vom 111er ab ca. 27:30 min.
Für beide Trails sollte man mind. S3 beherrschen, um sie richtig genießen zu können und S4, wenn man so gut wie alles durchfahren möchte.
Der 112er ist landschaftlich schöner, hat mehr Kehren und nur wenige Schlüsselstellen. Er ist mittlerweile allerdings schon recht ausgefahren.
Der 111er hat auch nur wenige Schlüsselstellen, vor allem aber mehr Rollschotter und mittendrin die gezeigte Abfahrt den losen Steilhang hinunter. Der ist auch jedes Jahr anders!
Unten raus wird der Trail schließlich noch recht schnell.
Es sind auf jeden Fall die Klassiker an dem Hang und ich wünsche Dir schon mal viel Spaß bei den Abfahrten!

Hallo Dave,
hab schon oft auf deiner HP gestöbert. Viele tolle Fotos, vor allem die Berichte haben es mir angetan.
Euer Gardasee Video ist Kult, habe schon viele Touren nachgefahren
Ein dritter Teil mit aktuellen Bikes und neuen Touren wäre nicht schlecht, mal so als Anregung.

Danke Manfred! Roland hat uns dieses Jahr bei Chamonix tatsächlich noch mal mit der Kamera begleitet. Vielleicht gibt's nächstes Jahr also wieder einen neuen Teil! ;-)
